"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30
"Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired and weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:28-31
How easily I forget, but how wonderful to be reminded!

Valentine's Day Weekend
We had a very nice Valentine's Day yesterday. Jock & Kaylen got up early, and I slept in - as usual on Saturdays. They played and Kaylen got to watch one of her new movies (purchased from a birthday gift card, and let her pick it out as a reward after her good parent-teacher conference on Tuesday). Then they bundled up and went outside to clear the driveway of the 6 inches of snow we got Friday afternoon.
We then dropped Kaylen at her grandma's around 2:00, and had ourselves a date. We did some shopping at Goodwill & a consignment store for some clothes for Elijah and swimsuits for both he & Josephine. We had some good luck, and I think we're now set for clothes for both. Will need to get a few diapers though, but that's no biggy. (And of course we're still collecting formula - I'm also trying to get donations from some stores too.)
Then we went out to eat. We arrived at Red Lobster at 3:30, and each got a yummy drink while we waited about 50 minutes to be seated. It was a great lunch/dinner - YUMMY! Afterwards, we walked around the mall for about an hour or so before picking up Kaylen. We got home a little after 8, put Kaylen to bed, and then watched a movie. I'd been wanting to see Fireproof, and what a great movie for Valentine's Day. We were going to pause it mid-way through to eat our dessert, but didn't make it. We'll probably have it this afternoon.
Today we went to Sunday school. Jock and I taught the preschool class, and Kaylen went to her class. Afterwards we were going to stay for the 2nd service, but Kaylen wasn't feeling well so we came home. We're going to have a nice relaxing day at home. I'm catching up on blogging, and after lunch I'll be ready for a nap during Daytona.
Hope you all had a Happy Valentine's Day! And, here's a fun quiz I got from Terry's blog:
♥ How long have you been together? 12 years and a week (married for almost 10)
♥ How long did you know each other before you started dating? We started dating when we met, but our first "date" was a couple days later
♥ Who asked who out? Jock asked me out
♥ How old are each of you? 33 & 31 (Jock's older)
♥ Whose siblings do/did you see the most? about the same - Jock's are closer but that doesn't mean we see them more
♥ Do you have any children together? 1 daughter home & 2 waiting in Haiti
♥ What about pets? 1 dog
♥ Are you from the same home town? No, we met at college
♥ Who is the smartest? depends on the subject
♥ Who is the most sensitive? me
♥ Where do you eat out most as a couple? Mexican or BBQ (they're child-friendly)
♥ Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple? Haiti
♥ Who has the worst temper? probably Jock (red hair), but it doesn't come out much
♥ Who does the cooking? both of us
♥ Who is more social? donno - probably me, but we're both introverts
♥ Who is the neat freak? Jock
♥ Who is the more stubborn? probably Jock, but I can hold my own too
♥ Where was your first date? The ISU Memorial Union food court for sodas
♥ Who has the bigger family? me
♥ Do you get flowers often? No, but that's OK - too expensive and they don't last long anyway
♥ How do you spend the holidays? with our families
♥ How long did it take to get serious? depends on the definition of serious - we were engaged after about 9 months.
♥ Who eats more? Jock
♥ Who’s better with the computer? Likely Jock, but again - depends on the subject
♥ Who drives when you are together? Jock around home, but on trips we trade off

Upcoming Trip to Haiti & Feb Measurements for E & J **Updated 2/10
Just thought I'd throw this out there. We're wondering if anyone wants to donate baby formula for the orphanage in Haiti. It must be powdered, but can be any variety, any brand or off-brand. They can use any of that. We can take nearly 100 pounds of it. We have two rubbermaid tubs we can fill. To pack more in, we open the containers, dump them into a ziploc bag, then put that ziploc bag and the label from the can into another ziploc and write on it the expiration date. It works pretty well.
We can't fill a tub full of formula or it'll be too heavy for the airline luggage limits, so we'll pack some cloth diapers (& pins) around them - they're lightweight, and the orphanage can use them as well. If you have any of these, we could take them as well, although the formula would be more of a need. I think I've already got some cloth diapers stored away that I can take.
We also are in need of some cute 2-3T boys & 18-24mos girls summer clothes. These are what we'll use to have them wear when they stay with us at the hotel part of the time we're there. Please do not donate clothes you expect back though. We'll likely leave most of them there for the kids to use. We just got new measurements of our kiddos, and the clothes I took back in July will NOT fit. Well, a few of his might, but hers will definitely not. I'm not sure their measurements were very accurate (as if they grew 4 and 7 inches in 6 months), but here's the comparison from their September comparisons to now:
Elijah:
Sep '08 (25 months): 30", 25 lbs
Feb '09 (30 months): 34", 29.5 lbs
Josephine:
Sep '08 (16 months): 27", 18 lbs
Feb '09 (21 months): 34.25", 21 lbs
If you have any donations, just let me know - leave a comment here with your email address, email me or Facebook me.
**Update 2/10: I think I'm good for clothes for Josephine now. I found some cute ones on Craigslist that weren't outrageously priced, and a friend found some too. :). Still working on clothes for Elijah.
