We've been waiting quite a while for our referral, since our dossier has been in Haiti for 3 1/2 months. Last Friday, we had a conference call with our adoption coordinator at our agency. We had asked her if there was anything in our paperwork that was holding up our referral. We were concerned because we'd thought, from GLA's blog, that our child preferences matched the children that were available at the orphanage. We knew that it could be held up until December, because of the orphanage director traveling, but were starting to get discouraged that it was now early January and we'd heard nothing.
She told us there was nothing delaying us in our paperwork, and that she thought it would be coming soon. We pressed her what she meant, and she hesitated a bit, then just repeated that she's spoken with GLA, and that it would be... "Soon". Hmmm.... Soon is rather vague, but all we had to go on, so we continued praying over our referral process.
Our adoption coordinator was going to be out of the office Jan 9-27, but she assured us that her being in Africa wasn't going to hold up our referral - they would continue to be processed by other staff in her office if they came through during that time. She said when it comes through we'd get a phone call.
