Meals from the Heartland - Important Announcement

I received the below email this morning.  I've been hearing about this the last day or two on the news, and am excited that they'll be doing this again.  What an awesome effort to help feed so many in need around the world.  I'm hoping to sign up our family to help package the meals again.  Who wants to join us?  (Note: the volunteer info says anyone 7 and up can help, but last year it said 5 and up, and Kaylen did a super job at age 5.)

Dear Friends of Meals from the Heartland,
This is a special invitation for you to be among the first to sign up for this year's Meals from the Heartland, September 3rd -7th at Hy-Vee Hall in Des Moines.
What if you knew… a child dies of starvation every five seconds in the world? Hunger exists and is very real in developing countries, like Haiti, Tanzania & South Africa
What if you knew… last year over 4 million meals were packaged by 12,500 volunteers at Meals from the Heartland? This year as many as 15,000 volunteers may be needed for this, the largest event of its kind in the country.
What if you knew… that for every $25 donated or raised, 100 meals would be sponsored? For each meal packaged at Meals from the Heartland, the cost is 25 cents for the rice, soy, vegetables & vitamins, and transportation to reach those in need.
What if this year you volunteered? Sponsored meals to be packaged? Or did both?
In order to support the packaging of millions of meals, we need you. Please visit www.mealsfromtheheartland.org and sign up today! Consider donating and/or registering to volunteer. We encourage that you share this year's event with friends and family, create teams and motivate others to get involved.
You can make a difference… you can save a life. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Meals from the Heartland Team
