Our Dec07 Adoption Process Update

Not really much to update you on our adoption process, but we received this update from our adoption coordinator:
Happy New Year, Lisa and Jock!
I hope this email finds you well and having had a wonderful celebration of our Lord's birth! This year has been challenging for process at times. But we are so encouraged by God's continuous victories over those challenges and the work He continues to do for His precious little ones in Haiti!!
Your dossier is currently in IBESR. IBESR has moved this year from one of the most difficult offices to one of efficiency. We are thrilled to see the vast majority of children being released from this office in about 4 months. In the month of December, FHG did not have any releases from IBESR. Please do not be discouraged by this, though. There are currently 21 dossiers in IBESR, with only a few just hitting the 4 month mark. Your dossier, for instance, has just barely been in IBESR for 3 months. So you are still under the average wait time of 4-7 months for processing. The short wait for the majority of dossiers, coupled with the holidays taken by the Haitian offices, led us to not anticipate any approvals this month. Just so you know, the offices and staff will not be in full swing again until the 14th. We look forward with great anticipation to all God will be doing in January and all of 2008!
As always, please email me if you have any questions regarding your dossier. Many blessings for a wonderful start to 2008,
Cate
Just a note regarding the holidays in Haiti... Christmas was last Tuesday. Today is New Year's Day and Haiti's Independence Day. Tomorrow is also an official holiday, I've seen it called Ancestors Day or National Day of the Forefathers or Founder's Day. While not official holidays, January 3rd is Heroes Day, and the 6th is Epiphany.

I wish the offices weren't closed until the 14th. That delays our dossiers two more weeks. I'm just at 4 mo and would like to hear we're out of IBESR on the Jan. update, but we may not be with the offices closed.

Me too - that's quite the holiday. I'm guessing I shouldn't get my hopes up for IBESR exit until our February update, since we're just at 3 months.
