June 1, 2007 - Missing One document?!

We received information back from USCIS, that they had received our packet, but that they still needed one more piece of information. (We thought we had everything together!) Our home study did not include the agency's license to perform home studies in the state of Iowa. They needed that before they could process our application.

We then realized that our dossier probably needed to have this included too - and on top of that, it would have to be translated. We were planning to mail the completed dossier to the consulate tomorrow, but that will be held up now.

Of course, we didn't find this out until after 5:00 on Friday, so we could not get ahold of anyone at CFI. We left a message, and also emailed the lady from CFI that had done our home study for us, asking her to please get back to us as soon as possible, and let us know when we can pick that up. We also emailed our translator, and told her that we would have one more page coming via email, and asked her to email the document back to us so we could more quickly print it ourselves, rather than wait for it to come in the mail. She said that would be fine. We're so glad we went with a translator that charges a flat fee for the entire dossier. When she sent back the rest of the translations last week , she told us that if we needed to have anything redone or additional documents, that was covered in the fee we paid her, and to just let her know.
