Sherline has a family

We found out last week that Sherline now has a forever family. Last week, her family announced their intentions to adopt her. We've been praying for her, and for her to have a family. She tested positive for HIV antibodies. They are aware of this, but felt comfortable after talking to several doctors and HIV specialists. When babies are born, they don't have their own antibodies - they have only their mom's. Her mom was HIV positive, so when testing only for antibodies, she will test positive, but may or may not actually have HIV herself. She will develop her own antibodies and lose her mom's, but that could take until she is 18-24 months old. I think there is also another test for HIV that does not only test for antibodies that could return negative. We'll continue to pray that her future HIV tests will return negative, and for her adoptive family. I can't imagine the committment they've made, and am so fortunate that Sherline has a forever family!
